During the time of March and May of 1947 , Mountbatten decided that the Cabinet Mission Plan had been not working and formulated an alternative plan called Dickie Bird Plan . ● It is also called Plan Balkan or Ismay Plan . ● The plan is to divide India into smaller parts and make it suitable for British imperialist designs. ● The plan said the transfer of power to separate provinces if formed before the transfer with Punjab and Bengal having the option to vote for partition of their provinces. ● Various units formed along the princely states would have the option of joining India or Pakistan or remaining separate. ● The plan was abandoned and Nehru opposed it actively.
