Warren Hastings
● He was the first Governor of the Presidency of Fort William (Bengal) , the head of the Supreme Council of Bengal, and thereby the first de facto Governor-General of Bengal from 1773 to 1785 . Hence statement 1 is correct.
● Hastings shared Clive's view that the three major British Presidencies (settlements), Madras, Bombay and Calcutta, should all be brought under a single rule rather than being governed separately as they currently were.
