Henry Thomas Colebrooke was a Sanskrit scholar and orientalist. In 1805, he was appointed by Lord Wellesley as an honorary professor of Hindu law and Sanskrit at Fort William College, Calcutta. He was the co–founder of the Royal Astronomical Society and presided over as the Director of the Society until his death.
