A Governor of the state does not have the diplomatic and military powers. Diplomatic and military powers are related to the powers of the President. The Governor appoints the advocate general of a state. The advocate general holds office during the pleasure of the governor. The Governor can summon or prorogue the state legislature and dissolve the state legislative assembly. He can grant pardons, reprives, respites and remissions of punishment.
