The Beijing Declaration and Platform for Action was adopted at the UN’s Fourth World Conference on Women in Beijing, China in 1995. It is an agenda for women’s empowerment and aims at removing all the obstacles for women’s active participation in all spheres of public and private life. It acknowledges shared power and responsibility between women and men in the workplace, at home, and at the global level.
