The Protection of Women from Domestic Violence Act, 2005 is an Act of the Parliament of India enacted to protect the women from domestic violence. It was brought into force by the Indian government from 26th October, 2006. A woman suffering from Domestic Violence can not only file a complaint against the husband or male partner, but also against his relatives. The law also extends its protection to women who are sisters, widows or mothers.
