Hindu Mahasabha, also referred to as All–India Hindu Mahasabha, was started at the Haridwar Kumbh Mela in 1915. It aimed to unite the Hindu society by encouraging the Hindus to transcend the divisions ofcaste and sect. It sought to define Hindu identity in opposition to Muslim identity
