The Muslim League accepted the Cabinet Mission Plan by a large majority on 6th June, 1946, which had rejected the demand for a sovereign Pakistan. In March 1946, the British Cabinet sent a three– member mission to Delhi to suggest a suitable political framework for a free India. The Cabinet Mission toured the country for three months and recommended a loose three– tier confederation.
