The rate of population growth during the 2001–2011 decade in Tamil Nadu was 15.6%; in Kerala, it was 4.9%; in Goa, it was 8.2%; and in Andhra Pradesh, it was 11.1%. In the 1991–2001 decade, in Tamil Nadu, the growth rate of population was 11.7%; in Kerala, it was 9.4%; in Goa, it was 15.2%; and in Andhra Pradesh, it was 14.6%. Hence, the rate of population growth during the 2001–2011 decade increased over the previous decade (1991–2001) in Tamil Nadu.
