Oxidation of carbohydrate is not a function of chlorophyll. Oxidation of carbohydrate (Glucose) occurs in mitochondria which results in production of energy (ATP). Absorption of photon, splitting of water and conversion of light energy into chemical energy are functions of chlorphyll during photosynthesis.
