The Dardic group of language belongs to Indo-European language. Indo-European language which came to India with the advent of Aryans is the largest language group of India and around 74 % Indians speak those languages which belong to this group. The Dardic branch consists of set of languages in the far North of India among which Kashmiri alone is major literary language.
Dravidian languages are older than the Aryan languages.It includes Tamil, Kannada, Malayalam, Gondi dialects, Kuruth or Oraon, Maler orMalpahariya, Kui or Kandh, Parji, Kolami etc. This language has spread outside India also like in Myanmar, Indo-China and South Africa.Sino-Tibetan languages include Chamba, Lahauli, Kannauri, Lepcha, Aka, Daflta, Abor, Miri, Mishnil, Mishing, Bodo, Naga, Cochin, Kukichin, Manipuri, Garo, Tripuri, Mikir and Lusai. It is divided further into three sub-category as:
- The Tibeto-Himalayan
- The North-Assam
- The Assam-Myanmari (Burmese) The Austric languages of India belong to the Austro-Asiatic sub-family. Munda languages are the largest of the Austric group of languages. The other language includes Santhali, Mundari, Ho, Birhor, Bhumiej, Korwa, Korku, Khasi and Nicobari.
