The Sarkaria Commission (1988), Venkatachaliah Commission (2002) and Punchhi Commission (2010) examined the issue of removal of the Governor of the state. Justice Thakkar Commission was set up to probe the assassination of former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi. It recommended a separate probe for the conspiracy angle behind the assassination.
