In a breakthrough moment for Assamese cinema, Rima Das’ directorial ‘Village Rockstars’ was, in April 2018, named the Best Feature Film at the 65th National Film Awards. It became the first Assamese film in the last 29 years to win this honour. Set in Chhaygaon village near Guwahati, ‘Village Rockstars’ is the story of “poor but amazing children” who live a fun-filled life.
