As per an announcement made by the government in the Rajya Sabha on 7 February 2017, eight schemes have been merged into a new ‘umbrella’ Scheme called “Rashtriya Yuva Sashaktikaran Karyakram RYSK)”. They are: Nehru Yuva Kendra Sangathan NYKS), National Youth Corps (NYC), National Programme for Youth & Adolescent Development (NPYAD), Youth Hostels (YH), Assistance to Scouting & Guiding Organisations, National Discipline Scheme (NDS) and National Young Leaders Programme (NYLP). National Service Scheme (NSS) and Rajiv Gandhi National Institute of Youth Development (RGNIYD) have been retained as separate Schemes due to the distinctive nature of their operational framework.
