Wool polymer is a linear, alpha-keratin polymer which has a helical configuration. Steps in the formation of wool polymer are not known, so the repeating unit of wool polymer is amino acid, which is linked to each other by the peptide bond (-CO-NH-). As a result, it is not possible to determine the extent or degree of polymerisation for wool. It consists of a long polypeptide chain constructed from 18 amino acids.
