In the year 2016, the government of India announced a ₹6,000 crore special package for the textile and apparel sector to create one crore jobs within three years and provide tax and production incentives for the entrepreneurs. The package, which will be implemented soon, aims to help in creating one crore jobs, mostly for women (not equally for men and women as given in the third statement), in the next three years. The package is a strategic decision that would strengthen the Indian textile and apparel sector by improving its cost competitiveness in the global market.
