Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) is meant to be deployed in the northern borders of India for monitoring the borders and also to stop smuggling and illegal immigration. The Border Security Force (BSF) is charged with guarding India's land border during peace time, stop smuggling and preventing transnational crime. Assam Rifles is deployed along India-Myanmar border an in N.E. India and tasked with combating insurgency. The NSG is trained to conduct counter-terrorist tasks including counter-hijacking tasks on land, sea, and air, bomb disposal and post-blast investigation.
