Operation Kachhapa is an NGO initiative for the conservation ofOlive Ridley sea turtles. Operation Kachhapa was launched in September 1998 to try to stem the slaughter. The objective was toreduce turtle mortality and try to safeguard the future of the species by concentrating on the following three main activities: 1. To improve patrolling of non fishing zones and the protection of nesting sites. 2. To support legal action on turtle conservation and fishing law violations. 3. To build public support and awareness of sea turtleconservation issues.
