The primary reason behind the failure of the Young Bengal Movement in Bengal was that it was too radical. The Young Bengalmovement was launched in Calcutta by a group of radicalBengali free thinkers, called Derozians, emerging from theHindu College. The Young Bengal movement was unsuccessfulbecause the group failed to gather support from other Bengali literatior academics. Because of their limited and shaky ideology, the movement was never able to fully capture the public attention.
