(c) The main pollutant in the smoke coming from cigarette are Carbon monoxide and Benzene. The air pollution emitted by cigarettes is 10 times greater than diesel car exhaust. Cigarette smoke contains over 4,000 different compounds. A significant number of these are toxic (poisonous) and can damage our cells and many of them are carcinogenic (cause cancer).
