(a) Illtutmish was the third ruler of Delhi Sultanate. He was the medieval king responsible for introducing the silver coin called ‘tanka’ in North India. He introduced Silver Tanka and Copper Jital, two coins of Delhi Sultanate the Silver Tanka was weighing 175 grains. He was the first person to introduce a pure Arabic coin in India.
