(a) The Biosphere reserve is an ecosystem with plants and animals of unusual scientific and natural interest. Edward Suess introduced the concept of the biosphere in 1926, later it was given by UNESCO to help protect the sites. It has started a world network of biosphere reserves. The MAB programme was built up by the World Network of Biosphere Reserves in 1971.
