(a) The number of seats reserved for women in Panchayati Raj Institutions in U.P. is one-third of total seats. But in 2016, the government decided to reserve seats for women in Panchayat elections up to 50%. Among the states that already follow 50%reservation for women in Panchayati Raj Institutions are Bihar, Uttarakhand, Madhya Pradesh and Himachal Pradesh.
