(a) The Council of Ministers has to resign if a no-confidence motion is passed by a majority of the members of the Lok Sabha. When the opposition party of the house has no faith in the ruling party, it brings the no-confidence motion. It can be only originated in the Lok Sabha. In this, the ruling party has to show its supporters of minimum half of the house, i.e., 272. In case they fail to prove their support, the party gets dissolved.
