Given,
Sum of two numbers is 25
Calculation
Let the one number be $\mathit{x}$
And the second number be $\mathit{y}$
According to question
$\mathit{x}+\mathit{y}=25$
$\Rightarrow \mathit{x}=25-\mathit{y}\cdots \left(1\right)$
$\mathit{x}=\left(1/2\right)\mathit{y}+7\cdots \left(2\right)$
From (1) and (2)
$\Rightarrow 25-\mathit{y}=\left(1/2\right)\mathit{y}+7$
$\Rightarrow 25-7=\left(1/2\right)\mathit{y}+\mathit{y}$
$\Rightarrow 18=3\mathit{y}/2$
$\Rightarrow \mathit{y}=\left(18\times 2\right)/3$
$\Rightarrow \mathit{y}=12$
$\Rightarrow \mathit{x}=25-12$
$\Rightarrow \mathit{x}=13$
Now, required difference $=2$ (larger number) $-2$ (smaller number)
$\Rightarrow 2\left(13\right)-2\left(12\right)$
$\Rightarrow 26-24=2$
$\therefore$ The required difference is 2 .
