A group of 210 students appeared in some test. The mean of

rd of students is found to be 60. The mean of the 3 remaining students is found to be 78. The mean of the whole group will be :

Solution:

N_1=1/3×210=70

N_2 = 210 - 70=140

∴ ∑X_1 = 70 × 60 = 4200

∑X_2 = 140 × 78 = 10920

Now,

∑X = 4200 + 10920 = 15120

Mean of the whole group

=15120/210=72
