Two numbers are in the ration 3:5. If 9 is subtracted from the numbers, the ratio becomes 12:23. The numbers are

Solution:

Let the numbers be 3x and 5x.
As per question,

{3x-9}/{5x-9}=12/23

23×(3x - 9) = 12 × (5x - 9)

69x - 207 = 60x -108

9x = 207 - 108 = 99

x=99/9=11

Required number's are 33 and 55.
