A man walks along the diagonal side o f a square field at the rate o f 10 kmph for 30 minutes. What is the area o f the square field? (in sq. km)

Solution:

Let the side of the square field be a km.
The distance along the diagonal of the square

=a√2

km
Then

a√2=10{1/2}=5

km
Hence, the area of the square field

=a^{2}=(\;{5}/{√{2}})^{2}=\;{25}/{2}=12.5

sq km
