Solution:

Let the fraction be

x/y

Given

\;{x+2}/{y+2}=\;{5}/{7} ⇒ 7 x-5 y=-4

→ (1)
and

\;{x-17}/{y-17}=\;{8}/{15} ⇒ 15 x-8 y=119

→ (2)
solving we get x = 33, y = 47
∴ Required fraction is

34/48=17/24
