A line I passing through the point (1, -2) is perpendicular to the line x + 2y + 1 = 0. Then the point of intersection of l and x + 2y + 1 = 0 is:

Solution:

The point of intersection of

x + 2y + 1 = 0

and the line perpendicular to it and passing through (1, –2) is the foot of the perpendicular of (1, – 2) on the line

x + 2y + 1 = 0

i.e

\;{x-1}/{1}=\;{y+2}/{2}=\;{1-4+1}/{5}

⇒x=7/5

and

y={-6}/5

i.e

(7/5,{-6}/5)
