Solution:

|x-3| < 2 ⇒-2 < x - 3 < 2

⇒ 1 < x < 5 → 1

|x-1| < 5 ⇒-5 < x - 1 < 5

⇒-4 < x < 6 → 2

∴ From 1 and 2, the common solution is

1 < x < 5

⇒(1,5)
