The distance between two cities is 30 km. If two persons A and B travel in the opposite directions starting from the two cities, they meet after 2 hours. If they start from the same city and travel in same direction they meet after 3 hours. If A is faster than B the speed of A is

Solution:

Let the speeds of A and B be a and b respectively.
Given,

30/{a+b}=2

hours and

30/{a-b}=3

hours

⇒a + b = 15

and

a-b = 10

⇒ a = 12.5 kmph and b = 2.5 kmph

A = 12{1/2}
