Let the additional days taken by A to finish the remaining work be ‘d’.

⇒\;\;{4+d}/{12}+\;\;{4}/{16}=1

⇒\;\;{4+d}/{12}=1-\;\;{1}/{4}=\;\;{3}/{4}

⇒{d}=(\;\;{3}/{4}×12)-4=5
