Let r : radius of cylinder
h : height of cylinder
R : radius of sphere
Volume of cylinder, $\mathit{V}=\mathit{\pi }{\mathit{r}}^2\mathit{h}$.
I Given : $\mathit{h}=\mathit{r}+3$
But the specific value of neither r nor h is known.
∴ I alone is not sufficient.
II. Given : R = 3 units
We can have two cases
(i) R = 3
r = 3
h = 12
$\mathit{V}=\mathit{\pi }{\mathit{r}}^2\mathit{h}=108\mathit{\pi }$cu units(ii) R= 3
r = 6
h = 6
$\mathit{V}=\mathit{\pi }\mathit{r}\mathit{h}=216\mathit{\pi }$ cu units
∴ II alone is not sufficient.
I & II. The data given is the statements I & II are not consistent.
In both the cases of the statement II, $\mathit{h}\ne \mathit{r}+3.$
∴ I and II together are sufficient.
