Solution:

Downstream rate = 15 + 3 = 18 km/hour
Upstream rate = 15 - 3 = 12 km/hour
Let the distance between the two place = x
According to the question.

{120}/{60}

{2x+3x}/{36}

= 2

{5x}/{36}

= 2
x =

{2×36}/{5}

= 14.4 km
