Solution:

Let x km/hr and y km/hr be the speed of the boat and speed of the stream respectively,
Now,

8 {48}/{60} (x-y)

= 4 (x + y)
⇒ 11(x – y) = 5 (x + y)
⇒ 6x = 16y
∴ x : y = 8 : 3
