. If the base be 40 m long, find the length of each side.

Solution:

Let ABC be the lawn in the form of isosceles triangle.

Let base = AB = 40m
Let h be the height
∴ Area =

1/2 × 40 × h

= 20h
According to the question,
Height = h =

{1200}/{4×20}

= 15m
∴ b =

√{(15)^2+(20)^2}

√{625}

= 25m.
