For the following circuit, calculate the power supplied by the source.

Solution:

I _{1}= I _{2}+ I _{3}

I _{1}={ V _{0}}/{ R _{1}}+{ V _{0}}/{ R _{3}+ R _{2}}

30 ×10^{-3}={ V _{0}}/{9 ×10^{3}}+{ V _{0}}/{6 ×10^{3}+12 ×10^{3}}

30 ×10^{-3}={ V _{0}}/{9 ×10^{3}}+{ V _{0}}/{18 ×10^{3}}

30 ×10^{-3} ×18 ×10^{3}=2 V _{0}+ V _{0}

3 V _{0}=30 ×18

V _{0}=180 V

Power supplied by the source

= V _{0} I _{1}

P =180 ×30 ×10^{-3} W

P = 5 . 4 W
