1) The Deccan Plateau ismade up of lava flows or igneousrocks known as the DeccanTraps. The rocks are spreadover the whole of Maharashtraand parts of Gujarat andMadhya Pradesh, thereby makingit one of the largest volcanicprovinces in the world. TheDeccan traps formed between60 and 68 million years ago atthe end of the Cretaceous period.
