Ratio of present ages of A and B is 4 : 5. After 5 years age of B will be 35 years. What is the present age (in years) of A?

Solution:

(1) Suppose the present age ofA = 4x years
Present age of B = 5x yearsAccording to question,
5x+ 5 = 35
⇒ 5x = 35 – 5
⇒

x = {30 }/5 = 6

∴Present age of A = 4x years
= 4 × 6 = 24 years
