(3) Banaras Hindu University(BHU) was established by PanditMadan Mohan Malaviya in1916. It was the first universityin India that was the result of aprivate individual’s efforts. Thefoundation for the main campusof the university was laid by LordHardinge, the then Viceroy ofIndia, on Vasant Panchami 4February, 1916.
