Present ages of Ram and his father are in ratio of 2 : 3. After 5 years ratio of ages of Ram’s father and his mother will be 13 : 12. If the present age of his mother is 55 years, then what will be the age of Ram (in years) 7 years from now?

Solution:

(2) Present age of Ram= 2x years
Present age of Ram’s father= 3x years
Present age of Ram’s mother= 55 years
According to the question,

{3x 5}/ 55+5= {13}/ 12

⇒36x + 60 = 13 × 60
⇒36x = 780 – 60
⇒x ={ 720}/ 36 = 20
∴ Present age of Ram= 2x years = 2 × 20 = 40 yearsAge of Ram after 7 years= 40 + 7 years = 47 years
