Present age of A is 52 years. 8 years hence ages of A and B will be in ratio 4 : 5. What is the present age (in years) of B?

Solution:

(1) Suppose present age of B= x yearsAccording to the question,

{4 }/5 = {52+ 8}/x+ 8

⇒4x + 32 = 60 × 5
⇒4x = 300 – 32
⇒x = 268 4 = 67
∴ Present age of B = 67 years
