(4) The Government of India Act 1909, also known as Morley-Minto reforms, implemented the system of separate electorates for Muslims. Under this system, only that only Muslims could vote for candidates for the Muslim seats(‘Separate electorates’). The system of sperate electorates was meant to divide the Hindu-Muslim unity and ultimately culminated in the partition of India.
