(3) The Reserve Bank of India was established on 1 April, 1935 under the provisions of the Reserve Bank of India Act,1934. It was set up on the basis of the recommendations of the Hilton Young Commission. Following India’s independence, the RBI was nationalised on 1 January, 1949.
