According to the Constitution of India, the role of the Supreme Court is that of a federal court andguardian of the Constitution. The Federal Court of India was a judicial body, established in India in1937 under the provisions of the Government of India Act 1935, with original, appellate and advisoryjurisdiction. It functioned until 1950, when the Supreme Court of India was established.
