K.S. Hegde served as a member of the Rajya Sabha from 1952 to 1957, holding office as its vice chairman between 1952 and 1953. He served as Judge of the Supreme Court of India between 1967 and1973 and as Speaker of the 6th Lok Sabha. K.S. Hegde and Baharul Islam are the only Supreme Court judges to have served inthe Parliament of India prior to their appointment to the judiciary.
