Average = Sum of numbers/Number of term
Average of a and b =36
⇒ 36 = a + b/2
⇒ a + b = 72 ---- (1)
Average of b and c = 42
⇒ b + c = 42 × 2 = 84 ---- (2)
From (2) – (1)
⇒ c – a = 84 – 72 = 12
∴ The difference between c and a is 12.
