Let the quantity of milk and water be 4x and 3x in the initial mixture.
⇒

{4\x}/{3\x+4}=1/1

⇒ 4x = 3x + 4
⇒ x = 4
⇒ The quantity of milk in the initial mixture = 4x = 16 litres
∴ The quantity of milk in the initial mixture is 16 litres.
