If marks range is a – b then mean marks is given as (a + b)/2
Calculation:
⇒ Total marks of all students = (9 + 11) /2 × 6 + (11 + 13) /2 × 5 + (13 + 15) /2 × 2 + (15 + 17) /2 × 2 + (17 + 19) /2 × 5
= 60 + 60 + 28 + 32 + 90 = 270
⇒ Total number of students = 6 + 5 + 2 + 2 + 5 = 20
⇒ Mean marks per student = 270/20 = 13.5
∴ The mean marks of the students is 13.5.
